One Day Classes
Portland Community College and Chemeketa Community College
Fall 2010 begins our 14th year of offering classes through Portland Community College and more recently we also began offering classes through Chemeketa Community College in Salem. These non-credit community education classes are designed for personal enrichment and development, although these classes certainly may complement an academic path or inspire a career change.
Each class is an individual one-day exploration into herbalism. By compiling a few classes together they serve as a sound introduction to the world of botanical medicine. According to your budget and interest level you might take one, a few or all of the classes offered per term and/or throughout the school year.
If you are just starting out or have been dabbling by yourself and are now ready to take a formal class we recommend that you start with the Medicinal Herbalism class. Medicinal Herbalism serves as the base or foundation class and then any of the other one-day classes will make excellent introductory electives.
Medicinal Herbalism is offered frequently, and throughout the year other classes such as Herbal Beauty, Body & Bath (fall), Aromatherapy (winter), Herbal First Aid (spring), Herbs for Women, Herbal Libations, Herbs for Winter Wellness and various Herb Walks have also been offered. For upcoming topics and dates check back here or with the college catalogues.
This is adult non-credit life enriching education however, some classes may be utilized for those seeking continuing education credits in certain fields, please check with your licensing board.
